Yes! We meet in all weather: rain, sun, snow, and cold. Inspired by the true nature of forest and outdoor education philosophies, our primary goal is to spend as much time outside as possible. We are outdoors rain or shine. Cancellations will only be made in the case of severe weather conditions.
Due to safety concerns we reserve the right to not sign in a child that is not properly prepared for the weather and outdoor environment.
You are welcome to reschedule up to three classes maximum without paying any additional fees, if notified one day prior to the day of the classes.
- The well-being and safety of the children as we learn and play is our primary focus. Our small class size allows for us to make all of the children are safe, heard, and supported during our time together. We establish physical boundaries for play with the teacher and between the children, and strategies for respecting our natural surroundings. All teachers are trained in CPR and First Aid.
- Our teachers are periodically tested for COVID -19 and as early as any indication of a COVID-19 associated symptom is reported by any of them we will immediately cancel the class and reschedule it either with a stand in teacher or at another time. Please see COVID-19 Safety Protocols for details.
- We do not offer any snacks during the class; the length of the class is 1h so we recommend you offer the child snacks prior or after the class. This is a twofold safety measure within the COVID context but also to avoid any allergy associated risks.
Please send with your child a full water bottle and have with you a full change of weather-appropriate clothes, just in case it’s needed. A mask and small hand sanitizer is required for the child to have during the class. (Please see class rules for more details.)
Please make us aware of any and all allergies and medical conditions your child has in writing so we can work out a plan to best meet their needs during class.
Yes, an up to date health form is required for children to attend our classes.
It is the responsibility of each parent to make sure their child is dressed appropriately for the weather. (in general, snow pants, snow boots, long underwear, and hats, gloves and scarves keep the kids warm in the winter. Raincoats, pants, and boots keep the kids dry in the rain. And sun hats, comfortable footwear, sunscreen, and bug spray in the summer). Playing and exploring outside in nature all year long is possible and quite enjoyable when children are dressed in the proper gear.
Please visit our calendar page for more schedule information.
Please submit enrollment via our website. You will find the program you are looking for in our dedicated section. If you have additional questions you may contact us at hello@urbanforest.ro .
Once your enrollment request is submitted and the payment confirmation has been received, the child has been enrolled and this is a guarantee of the requested schedule.
Yes, of course.
We do not currently offer a sibling discount.
It is best to leave anything that your child will find hard to share at home. Please offer a quick snack before or after the class.
No. We don’t call on any children during circle time or any other time during the class. We lead the class through activities and transitions which usually work well for even the shyest of children. We think adding play in nature to your family’s week is enough for most children to take away.
Refunds are not available after payment confirmation. You can reschedule the class if needed.
While we love having your child in our classes, please stay home if your child or parents/ caregiver feel at all unwell. You can easily reschedule the missed class online.
COVID-19 Safety Protocols and Things to Know
All adults must wear masks at all times. This includes teachers while with children, as well as all parents, guardians, and caregivers that come into contact with our groups during drop off, pickup, or any other necessary time.
Both masks and social distancing are essential to help lessen the spread of COVID: while we aren’t able to 100% guarantee masks and social distancing at all times during class, we will enforce reasonable distancing among children and ask that all kids wear masks especially when social distancing is not possible. All children do need to have masks on when attending class but we will encourage and remind children to keep masks on throughout class. While we are not able to guarantee that all children will always have masks on for the whole class, due to varying developmental and sensory needs, we will be diligent with our mask reminders. Teachers will be masked at all times when with children. Thank you for your compliance and support as we strive to keep our Urban Forest community safe.
Social distancing must be maintained during daily drop off and pickups, with space given as each child is signed in and joins their teacher.
We will do our best to enforce social distancing during class playtime.
While children will be encouraged to explore with distance from other children, teachers will still be in physical contact with students as needed to tend to injuries, assist with clothing and offer comfort. We will not be able to prevent students from touching or being near each other at all times.
Books will no longer be kept out for the children to share and instead will be read by teachers during. Each child will receive an individual learning kit if the class thematic requires, no materials will be shared.
Daily temperature and health checks are required for all staff, as well as children arriving to class each day. Families will be asked daily about the overall health of their child and immediate family to ensure there aren’t any COVID-related symptoms or exposure.
All teachers, staff, and children with ANY signs of illness must stay home until they receive a diagnosis that allows them to return to class. If your child demonstrates any virus symptoms during class, or just seems unwell overall, we will call you and have you pick them up immediately. Symptoms include but are not limited to: fever, vomiting, cough, wheezing, headache, diarrhea, shortness of breath, sore throat.
Frequent hand sanitizing will be required, including, (but not limited to) arrival and before dismissal.
